The current law allows them to accept gifts up to $75 in value. The second, by Harry Apolito, would provide a property tax break for cold war veterans.

Scott talks about party switchers and speaks with a former congressman on the chances of Rudy for 2008.

The Niagara County IDA is considering giving a tax break to a company that will likely end up reducing its workforce. Scott thinks this is crazy. What do you think?

Scott contends that county officials are hunkering down in hopes that everything will magically get better. And they're not talking with their detractors. In fact, Councy Manager Greg Lewis has told Tom Christy that he can no longer be on his show because of Tom's "negativity."

Scott talks about a public meeting tonight in Middleport to discuss arsenic levels in the soil.

Wednesday Scott had Nuclear Lou Riccuiti in studio to help him talk about people misusing their right to free speech. Whether its on the internet, in unlabeled ads or push polls, people who throw dirt while hiding are out there.

New York Governor Eliot Spitzer announced last week that Social Security Cards will no longer be neccessary for obtaining a driver's license, meaning citizenship need not be proven. In other words, illegal immigrants can now get licenses in New York. Scott says this has horrible implications for all of us. Many callers agree.

Scott discusses the CBS show Kid Nation and takes calls on the concept. Plus we asked: What would make a good reality show in Niagara County?

Scott had several things going on - one of them was the NY Times ad by MoveOn.org, which he compared to GOP postcards. Everyone who listens to the show called twice ... but with different voices. And a Republican calls for the ouster of Henry Wojtaszek. Interesting stuff.

Scott's a little miffed that he was left out of a debate by LCTV. Might there be a conspiracy?

The Tax Foundation released their new report on taxes and found Niagara County to be the #2 highest taxed county in America based on a percentage of home values. County officials, of course, poo pooed the report.

Callers were mostly irate at the county's standing and reaction.

Scott talks about a political mailer. The candidate who the mailer was about called into the show, as did the person who mailed it.

Scott doesn't think the members of the Niagara County Legislature could run a McDonald's. What jobs COULD they do?

Wednesday, Scott went on a tagent about a comment Pete Smolinski made. Apparently Smolinski chastized Harry Apolito for voting against something, citing the need for public safety so close the the anniversary of Sept. 11. Scott says it's the only trick they've got in their bag.

The primary is in just two weeks. Scott suggests we do what we can to get rid of incumbents.

A state policy group says we're in an economic crisis. Sam Ferraro says that number are only half of the picture. What's the other half? Greg Lewis says their report doesn't take into account of location and resources. Haven't we had those resources and been in this location the entire time we got into these dire straits? Scott's livid.

Thursday morning, Scott heard an interview that Doug Young did with Lewiston Supervisor Fred Newlin about the cheap power that Lewiston residents will be recieving ... it reminded him of a commercial that ran on WLVL last year bashing Fred Newlin about "wasting money on attorneys to fight with NYPA."

The state legislature wants to name Buffalo the end of the Erie Canal. Of course it used to be. But why do they want to make it so now? And our delegation went along with it, too - stripping the title from North Tonawanda. Former NT Mayor David Burgio talked with Scott about it - and then Scott took calls.

Thinking of the response to yesterday's show, Scott decided to talk about our willingness to forgive politicians who do dumb things. Bob LaBarbera called in with a statement. And there were several hangups during the show, which really upset Scott and he threatened to not do a show tomorrow.

Scott says that the Moore Interview is not appropriate for children - just a warning.

Scott started the show talking about Newfane and their desire to appoint someone to a recently vacated seat instead of having an election. Unfortunately for Scott, the first caller changed the topic and several callers thereafter continued down the path the first caller laid - illegal immigration. For the record, for those of you who don't know, Scott couldn't care less about illegal immigration.

Friday Scott had a few things that interested him, including this story on a Police State action in Baltimore ... and a raise and contract extension for a local superintendent.

Thursday we discussed an item from the Union Sun & Journal's "What's Your Problem" commentary. Water lines and leaks was the topic ... and calling in to add their expertise, Water Maintenance Supervisor Al Campisano, City Attorney John Ottaviano, and Alderman Pat Schrader. Proof that when you have a question in need of an immediate answer, WLVL is the place to turn. After the show, Schrader booked a show with us for next Thursday, May 24th.

It may seem futile seeing that all school budgets won approval, but there is some good news in the numbers and Scott discusses it with several callers.
